PCT Injury Trends eBook: The First 800 Miles

It became clear after treating hikers throughout the 2022 season that injuries experienced on trail are far more complicated than simple overuse. There are also clear injury trends that have a high rate of occurrence for specific sections.

This ebook covers what to expect in the first 800 miles in depth—where the majority of hike-ending injuries occur—to help prevent injuries to keep you on trail and trekking towards your goal of a successful thru hike.

Pre-Trail Training Series

When I hiked the PCT I was already a PT, but I learned so much more about overuse injuries and managing them in the context of a thru hike after experiencing what it’s like to walk 30 miles every day—for months.

This series incorporates what I have learned helping hikers on trail into workouts that target common problem areas. The goal is to get you ready for your next thru hike and reduce the rate of trail-ending injuries. Can be purchased as a complete series, bundled, or as individual workouts.

**Individualized workout plans available September – March. Contact us for more information.

Complete your PT appointments in the convenience, comfort, and privacy of your preferred location. By utilizing the internet, save time and money on travel and connect with a provider that understands your thru-hiking goals.

Patient will need internet access, a webcam and sufficient speaker/microphones. There are alternate methods via video messages and chat to increase accessibility, but for best quality webcam and live internet access is recommended.

No. Physical therapists have direct access, meaning you can start PT without a referral and we will refer out if necessary. Some states have limitations on the length of time/visits without a referral. If you are in one of those states we will let you know prior to starting.

We are out of network with all health plans and we are notenrolled as Medicare providers.  Therefore, private payment is required at time of service. If you have out of network benefits from your commercial insurance plan (not including Medicare), we will give you a statement that you can submit to your health plan for services your plan covers.  We cannot provide Medicare patients with a statement to submit for reimbursement since we are not enrolled Medicare providers.

Yes, if the services we provide to you are medically necessary for a medical condition or injury, we will provide you with a receipt to submit or maintain for your HSA, HRA or FSA account.  You are responsible for following the rules of your plan and the IRS regulations.
